What is important to you, for your client to feel, when working with you?
As a clinician, it’s important to me that clients experience a sense of comfort and safety during our sessions, and I strive to make sure they feel valued and understood, especially during particularly during pivotal times in their lives.
Who do you believe you are for a client as they manage their problems?
As a social worker, my role is to serve as a supportive, empathetic guide, and advocate for clients as they navigate their challenges. I aim to help clients identify their strengths and resources, set achievable goals, and develop practical strategies for addressing their issues.
I work to build a trusting and non-judgmental relationship, allowing clients to openly share their concerns and experiences. Through active listening and evidence-based interventions, I aim to empower clients to make informed decisions and enhance their well-being. Ultimately, my goal is to be a compassionate ally, assisting clients in gaining the tools and confidence needed to overcome obstacles and improve their quality of life.
What drives your passion for seeing clients?
My passion for seeing clients stems from a few key motivations: empowering individuals by helping them recognize their strengths and values, supporting their goal setting and well-being, and building genuine, empathetic relationships. I find great satisfaction in aiding clients' growth and facilitating meaningful change in their lives.
How do you believe clients "get better"?
Clients get better and see positive results when they invest and put effort into making changes for their own growth. I believe that while overcoming significant challenges is possible, it requires individuals to be committed to doing the work needed to achieve effective outcomes. Also, patience and being open-minded towards their own therapeutic journey.
"You are not your feelings. You are just experiencing them. Anger, sadness, hate, depression, fear. This is the rain you walk in, but you don’t become the rain. You know the rain will pass. You walk on and remember the soft glow of the sun that will come again." – Matt Haig
